Lasers Cruise to 3-0 Victory over Eagles
NEWTON, MA- Lasell College defeated visiting Daniel Webster College in non-conference play Monday night in three sets; 25-18, 25-20, 25-11. 
 
Mike Harrington (Billerica, MA) put away a match-high 10 kills in the quick match while Spencer Parker (Newington, CT) added eight. Lasell's setter Andrew Glenn (Westport, CT) handed out 31 assists, picked up five digs, and added two service aces in the non-league tussle.

In the back court, Max Vaughan (Wethersfield, CT) collected a match-high 10 digs while Chris Burns (Chelmsford, MA) picked up nine. 

For the Eagles, Kyle Clement (Weymouth, MA) dished out 11 assists to his teammates, with Chris Shannon (Ronkonkoma, NY) and Joe Walz (E. Longmeadow, MA) combining for 13 kills. Walz added a team best seven digs and Justin Masse (Hudson, NH) chipped in with six. 
 
The Eagles kept in pace with the Lasers throughout the first set though they only managed a brief one-point lead early on in the game, 5-4, after a Lasell offensive mistake.  The Lasers took a four point edge, 12-8, after kills from Harrington, Micah Aiu (Honolulu, HI) and Parker and the hosts pushed further ahead 24-18 to get to game-point.  Parker put away the final attack of the game, slamming down an overpass to cap the game, 25-18.
 
Parker topped all hitters in the first set, hitting 5-for-9 with one error for a .444 clip.   Harrington followed closely, going 4-for-6 with one miscue, hitting 50%.  Vaughan led on defense with four digs and Glenn passed out 10 assists.
 
Walz was the highlight for Daniel Webster with three kills and three digs in the set.
 
In set two, after Lasell came up with an early 4-2 lead, the Eagles rallied to tie the game at 6-all.   The squads played even  through  a 9-all tie when Lasell broke away on a 6-0 run.   The Eagles responded with a corresponding stretch of their own which left the teams settled in a 15-all tie.
 
The squads played even through another four points each at which point the Lasers lit up.  Parker banged a hit into the Eagles court and Glenn and Harrington each rejected Eagle attempts at the net, giving the Lasers a 22-19 edge. 
 
Another tandem jam at the net by Parker and Mill yielded game point for the Lasers and an ace by Glenn finished the set, 25-20.
 
Parker and Aiu each donned three kills in the set and Burns had a game-best six digs for Lasell.  Shannon chipped in with four kills for the Eagles.
 
Lasell edged Daniel Webster 9-6 in the third frame and maintained their advantage right through the final point.  The hosts took as much as a 10 point margin, 19-9, after a 7-0 rally, complete with three kills by Matthew Dionne (Danville, NH) and two by Alex Mill (Danville, NH). The Eagles would score just two more points as the Lasers cruised to a 25-11 set win, and 3-0 match victory.
 
Lasell's overall record bumps up to 10-8 overall while Daniel Webster drops to 4-6.  The Lasers will rematch Johnson & Wales University, this time counting  toward their Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) record, on Wednesday, February 23rd at 7:00 p.m. in the Athletic Center. On the same date, Daniel Webster will host MIT, also at 7:00 p.m.
