McGourn Earns Rookie of the Year; Rogers Honored as All-GNAC

Lasell's freshman setter Brendan McGourn (Southington, Conn.) was selected as the GNAC Rookie of the Year and to the first team All-Conference for men's volleyball, and senior outside David Rogers (Belchertown, Mass.) joins him on the second team All-GNAC.

 

McGourn was honored as GNAC Rookie of the Week three times this season and was also selected to the All-Tournament team at MIT.  McGourn is fourth in the conference for assists per game, averaging 10.35 per set, and15th in the NCAA for DIII men's volleyball  On the year, McGourn has totaled 776 assists so far.

 

McGourn has also notched 75 kills this season, 30 blocks, and 127 digs.  He is second on the team in digs per game, averaging 1.69. 

 

David Rogers has been Lasell's big hitter on the outside during the 2009 season. Rogers earned GNAC Player of the Week once.  He is also ranked nationally, at 29th for hitting percentage (.318). He was selected as the Bard Tournament Most Outstanding Player for averaging 2.89 kills and 2.77 digs per game in the 3 match tournament and leading Lasell to the tournament title.

 

Rogers is leading the Lasers in kills per set, averaging 2.44 per game. He is also second on the team in total digs and third in digs per set, totaling 140 digs and 1.61 per set this season.  Rogers has added 35 blocks at the net for Lasell, including 10 solo blocks.

 

This is Rogers first time being recognized on the All-Conference team in three seasons of playing at Lasell.
