McGOURN RECEIVES GNAC ROOKIE OF THE WEEK RECOGNITION

Brendan McGourn, a 6'1" freshman setter from Burlington, Connecticut, has been selected by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference as the men's volleyball Rookie of the Week.

McGourn was chosen after a 3-2 week for the Lasers in which he averaged 10.59 assists per game and 2.29 digs per game, while also producing two double-doubles over the week.  At University of New Haven, McGourn distributed 48 assists to his hitters and defensively picked up 14 digs in the five set hard fought match.  His second double-double performance came against Lancaster Bible College where he dished 40 assists and dug 10 balls in three sets.  In GNAC action this week, McGourn put down 6 kills, created 39 assists, and had 9 digs against the Saints of Emmanuel College.

McGourn is currently averaging 11.04 assists per game and 2.19 digs per game, good for second on the team.  He is also ranked nationally in the NCAA in those two categories, 13th nationally in assists per game and 40th in digs per game. This is McGourn's first time being honored by the GNAC so far this season.
