MSOC: Season Ends in Heartbreaking Penalty Shootout Loss to Rivier

Nashua, NH-  In a dramatic finish, Lasell saw their season come to an end with a narrow 5-4 defeat in a penalty shootout against Rivier after a tense 1-1 draw in regulation and overtime. 

The game was tightly contested from the start, with both teams showing determination on the field. Rivier struck first with a goal from Alejandro Quezada in the 58th minute, giving them a 1-0 lead.

Lasell responded vigorously, leveling the score in the 70th minute when Dante Mills found the back of the net with an assist from Mpumelelo Maphumulo. The equalizer set the stage for an intense finish, but neither team could break the deadlock in the remaining minutes, leading to overtime.

Both teams battled through two overtime periods, but the score remained tied at 1-1, forcing a shootout to determine the winner.

In the shootout, Rivier emerged victorious, converting 5 of their penalties while Lasell managed 4.
