Lasell Men’s Soccer Reaches #9 in NSCAA New England Coaches Poll

Newton, Mass. (10/17/12) – The Lasell College men's soccer team is in the midst of a historic season, and when the latest National Soccer Coaches Association of America polls were released they achieved a new milestone. The men's program was voted as the ninth best team in the New England Region, having moved up from the 10th spot a week ago. The 2012 campaign marks the fourth time the program has cracked the New England regional rankings in its 15 year history, however never before has the team been ranked as high as ninth.

The team is off to the best start in the program history at 13-1 overall, 8-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference and have won nine consecutive matches. The lone blemish on the Lasell schedule was a 1-0 defeat to Brandeis University, who is currently 12-1-1, ranked third in New England and 18th in the country.

The Lasers will close their regular season with three straight away fixtures. The have a pair of GNAC matches remaining, beginning with Suffolk University on October 17th, followed by St. Joseph's (Maine) on Saturday October 20th, as they look to pursue their third undefeated conference season. The 2010 side finished 7-0-2 in the GNAC, but you have to go back to the 2006 team that finished 10-0 in the North Atlantic Conference to find another Lasell men's soccer team that has won all of their conference contests.

Their final regular season match will be a non-conference tilt at Westfield State on Wednesday October 24th at 7pm, prior to the start of the GNAC tournament on Saturday October 27th.
