MLAX: Condon Shines Again in 8-6 Win Over USJ

Newton, MA - The Lasell University men's lacrosse team played GNAC opponent Saint Joseph (CT) on Wednesday evening on Grellier Field. They would use a 3-0 fourth-quarter scoring surge fueled by Freshman Jack Condon to secure the 8-6 win and improve to a 7-1 conference record.

The Blue Jays got on the board first in the game with two scores in the first three minutes. The Lasers weren't able to get loose until the final minutes of the quarter where Ryan Stone netted the first Laser goal of the game with 2:43 left in the first. Then it was Condon who got it going scoring two goals just a minute apart to end the quarter and put the Lasers in front 3-2. In the second quarter, it was Finnegan McCormick who notched another Laser goal but the Blue Jays responded with the next two scores to tie the game 4-4. Will McCarthy then put in a score ahead of the halftime break giving the Lasers the 5-4 edge. The third quarter saw the scoring slow for the Lasers as they couldn't translate their offensive attacks into goals. The Blue Jays took advantage and scored twice in the period which gave them the lead 6-5 heading into the final 15 minutes. Jack Condon got his hat trick early in the quarter at the 14:16 mark off an assist from Ryan Stone which drew the game even once again. Fast forward to the 6:35 mark, Condon once again ripped a shot into the net for his fourth goal on the day. Not even 10 seconds later, the ball would find him once more off the faceoff which he deposited a final time, and making it 8-6 Lasers. The defense would hold firm down the stretch, and the Lasers were able to drain the clock in the final minutes taking the 8-6 win.

Freshman Jack Condon continues to impress in his rookie campaign as he is now up to 36 goals and 14 assists, leading the Lasers in both stat categories. It is now his third time eclipsing the five-goal mark in a game this season and the Lasers are now on a six-game win streak. Matthew Carbone totaled 10 ground balls in the effort and Michael Catalano had 9 saves in net.

Up Next - The Lasers will travel to Dean College on Tuesday for another GNAC matchup looking to extend their win streak.
