
Standish, ME - The Lasell men's lacrosse team had a road matchup against the Monks of Saint Joseph's (ME) on Friday afternoon. The trip was successful as they defeated the Monks 12-3 and improved to 3-1 in GNAC conference play.
The Lasers got on the board just under two minutes into the game with a goal from Jason Martin. They would find the net three more times in the period and prevented the Monks from getting any offense going, taking a 4-0 lead into the second quarter. In the next 15 minutes of action, the Lasers scored twice more, with Sam Guillmette and Colin LeBaron adding goals. The Monks scored late in the period and the Lasers held a 6-1 halftime advantage. Saint Joseph would open the third with another goal, trying to put together a comeback effort but the Lasers would go on to rattle off the next six scores, which boosted their lead to 12-2 midway through the fourth quarter. The game was in the Laser's control at this point and they won by a decisive 12-3 final.
Nate Campbell, Will McCarthy, Ryan Stone, and Sam Guilmette each had two goals on Friday. Jason Martin added one goal along with his game-high 3 assists, and Michael Catalano got his third win in net this season, posting 10 saves on 13 shots. Freshman defenseman Bubba Baumeister held down the defensive end for the Lasers, posting eight caused turnovers and setting a new caused-turnovers per-game record.
