MLAX: Lasell Holds Off Johnson & Wales in Thrilling 9-8 Victory

Newton, MA- In a hard-fought, back-and-forth contest, the Lasell men's lacrosse team emerged victorious with a 9-8 win over Johnson & Wales University on Monday afternoon. The win improves Lasell's record to 3-3, while Johnson & Wales drops to 3-4.

Lasell came out of the gate strong, taking a commanding 3-0 lead in the first quarter. Finnegan McCormack got the scoring started at the 13:57 mark with an unassisted goal. Carson Tucker followed suit at 7:04, and Colin LeBaron extended the lead to 3-0 with an assist from McCormack at 4:49.

The Wildcats responded in the second quarter with a pair of goals. Donny McInnis got them on the board at 13:27, cutting the Lasell lead to 3-1. Lasell quickly answered with goals from Jack Condon (7:57) and Nate Campbell (6:47), but Johnson & Wales continued to battle. Jacob Tresser pulled the Wildcats back within two at 6:44, making it 5-2.

Despite another goal from Lasell's Colin LeBaron (13:21) to start the third, Johnson & Wales never backed down, with Greyson Doyle scoring twice (8:18 and 1:55) to narrow the gap to just 7-5 heading into the final frame.

With time running down, Johnson & Wales made a strong push in the fourth quarter, bringing the score to an 8-8 tie by 12:16. However, Lasell's Will McCarthy provided the game-winner at 5:53, securing the 9-8 victory with an assist from LeBaron.

Lasell was led by the standout performance of Colin LeBaron, who scored three goals. Jack Condon contributed with two goals and one assist, while Nate Campbell added a goal and an assist.
