MLAX: Lasers Drop Home-Opener vs Rivier 11-7

Newton, MA - The Lasell men's lacrosse team hosted their first home game of the 2025 season on Saturday against the Raiders of Rivier University.

The Raiders came out the gate strong as they found the net four times in the opening quarter. The Lasers who had yet to score in the first period finally got on the board with a goal from Jason Martin with 1:30 left in the first, taking a 4-1 deficit into the second quarter. Unfortunately, the second quarter had a similar story for the Lasers, seeing the Raiders jump on them again for four consecutive scores and boosting their lead to 8-1. They were able to narrow the score going to the half though as Jason Martin got his second and third scores on the day, making it an 8-3 game.

In the third, the teams traded goals back and forth, and despite goals from Nate Campbell and Ryan Stone, the Lasers could not draw any closer. While the fourth quarter saw the Lasers hold the Raiders scoreless, along with Jack Condon and Finnegan McCormick each finding the net, it was not enough to mount the comeback and the Lasers fell 11-7.

Jason Martin, despite the loss, had a good day for the Lasers, totalling a hat-trick and one assist. Freshman Jack Condon added another goal to his early season total and two assists.

Up Next - The Lasers will look to rebound this Saturday on the road at Maine Maritime which will be played at 3 PM.
