Three Lasell men’s lacrosse players earn GNAC weekly honors

NEWTON, Mass. – Three Lasell College men's lacrosse players were recognized Monday by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for their performances in the Laser victories last week.

Senior Ryan Madden (Hingham, Mass./Hingham) was named GNAC Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week, and freshmen Alex Beauchemin (Westfield, Mass./Westfield) and James Anderson (Medway, Mass./Medway) were selected GNAC Goalkeeper and Rookie of the Week, respectively. They were key players as Lasell extended its winning streak to a program-record 14 games with a pair of victories, advancing to the semifinals of the GNAC Tournament.

A senior attack, Madden tallied 11 points in the 2-0 week with eight goals and three assists. He scored five goals with one assist in a win over Johnson & Wales University in the final game of the regular season, and he notched three goals and two assists in a first-round play-off victory over Albertus Magnus College. He also picked up five ground balls in the two games.

Madden leads the team with 43 goals and 63 points, which ranks him fifth in the GNAC in points and sixth in goals. He has upped his career totals to a program-record 158 goals and 214 points, just the second player in program with at least 200 points.

A freshman goalie, Beauchemin posted a 4.00 goals against average and a .625 save percentage, making 10 saves in 90 minutes of action. He made eight saves on 12 shots in the win over Johnson & Wales in the regular-season finale and added two saves in the first half of Lasell's GNAC quarterfinal victory over Albertus Magnus.

Beauchemin ranks third in the nation in Division III with a 6.15 goals against average. He also ranks fifth in the GNAC with a .557 save percentage.

A freshman attackman, Anderson recorded seven points for Lasell with six goals and one assist. He scored three goals in the win over Johnson & Wales, and he notched three goals and one assist in a first-round play-off victory over Albertus Magnus. He also picked up three ground balls in the two games.

Anderson is second on the team with 29 goals this season, and fourth with 41 points. The rookie is also 15th in the GNAC in goals and 17th in points. Anderson was previously the GNAC Rookie of the Week on March 18, March 25, April 15 and April 22.

Additionally, Lasell has earned the GNAC Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week honor seven straight weeks and eight of the nine weeks of the season, with four different Lasers earning the honor.
