Colon Finishes First in Collegiate Debut as Women's XC Takes 5th

NEWTON, Mass. (9/5/15) - Freshman Selena Colon (Hartsdale, N.Y.) made an electric collegiate cross country debut, finishing first in the Jim Sheehan Memorial Invitational on Saturday afternoon at the Doyle Conservation Center. The Lasers accumulated a score of 111, and took 5th overall. 

Colon averaged a 6:29.1 mile, and finished the 5k on top with a final time of 20:09. Senior Jaime Russo was next to cross the line for the Lasers, finishing 16th overall at 23:08.7, running at a 7:26.9 mile pace. 

Freshman Stephanie Seedorf (Massapequa, N.Y.) ran her first race in a navy and white uniform, and used a 7:43.3 averaged mile to finish the race at 23:59.5. Senior Rachel Knuth (Warwick, N.Y.) came in fourth for Lasell at 25:36.4, and was then welcomed by junior Elizabeth Bennett, who finished at 27:49.0. Sophomore Shannon Hart (Mashpee, Mass.) wasn't far behind, and finished at 29:44.5.

The squad will head to The University of New England on Saturday, September 12 for a race time slated for 10:45 a.m.
