DORCHESTER, MA—On Saturday, in the 17th running of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Cross Country Championship, Meghan Missett (Lowell, MA) picked up her second straight GNAC All-Conference honor with a 6th place finish on the women's course at Franklin Park. Johnson & Wales University captured the team championship for the second consecutive year with a total of 64 points.
Lasell placed 5th as a team with some outstanding performances that left the Lasers just six points shy of fourth place and 42 points shy of first. Missett's top showing for Lasell was clocked in a time of 21:06 on the 5K, good for sixth individually out of a field of 126 runners. The top runner on the women's side, Amber Dostie (Standish, ME), claimed both Runner of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors with her 1st place finish in a time of 19:45. In addition to Dostie and Missett, Johnson & Wales' Laura Furaro (North Warren, NJ), Saint Joseph College CT's Julie Pattyson (Seymour, CT), Simmons' Shelly Potter (York, ME) and Moriah Cohen (Bennington, VT), Emmanuel's Ameena Dye (Syracuse, NY) and Joslyn DelSignore (Taunton, MA), Emerson's Heather Hoglund (Groton, MA), and Norwich's Mallory Clark (Homer City, PA) each earned GNAC All-Conference honors with their top-ten finishes.
Contributing to Lasell's fifth place finish and 106 total points was an outstanding performance by Jess Smith (Townsend, MA) who followed behind Missett with a time of 21:50 and an individual finish of 17th overall. Third and fourth place for Lasell each ended in the top-30 of the race. Freshman Amy Santella (Cheshire, MA) ran a 22:08 and crossed the finish in 22nd place and Solange Carpenter (Gorham, ME) raced to a 29th place finish in 22:44.
Amanda Driscoll (Roslindale, MA), Christina Annicelli (North Easton, MA) and Samantha Mackie (Dorchester, MA) rounded out the scoring runners for Lasell. Driscoll took 33rd in a time of 23:12, Annicelli placed 51st in 24:23, and Mackie had a season and career best of 26:32.
Kelly Pigott (Upton, MA), Stephanie Greenblatt (Houston, TX), and Alaina Eldredge (Sanford, ME) finished up the racing field for Lasell with times of 28:03, 28:53, and 30:13, respectively.
The team finishes were as follows: Johnson & Wales (64 points), Emmanuel (72 points), Simmons (81 points), Emerson (100 points), Lasell (106 points), St. Joseph's Me. (144 points), Norwich (189 points), Mount Ida (258 points), Saint Joseph Connecticut (264 points), Suffolk (291 points), Rivier (314 points), Anna Maria (335 points), and Albertus Magnus (337 points).
The Lasers return to action on Saturday, November 5th in the ECAC Regional hosted by Williams College.
