WVB: Lasers Set New Program Record With 11th Straight Win

Newton, MA - The Lasell Women's Volleyball team continued their hot start to the season, defeating both Anna Maria and USJ in straight sets. With the pair of wins the Lasers have now won 11 straight matches, breaking the program record of nine previously set in 2005. The Lasers are now 13-1 on the season and 5-0 in GNAC play.

Match One vs Anna Maria

The Lasers defeated the AMCATS 25-16, 25-16, 25-12. They were never in any danger, and dominated from the start. Four different Lasers recorded at least seven kills, with McKenna McCool, Madalyn Scully, and Isabelle Borowinski each recording seven and Tori Scambray recording nine. Sydney Katz and Rylee Sherman each had double digit set assists with 11 and 14 each. Borowinski recorded her second double-double of the year by also recording 15 digs. Also in double digits was Autumn Walker who had 11 digs.

Match Two vs USJ

The Lasers swept the second match of their day as well, winning 25-12, 26-24, 25-13. While the first and last sets were smooth sailing, the second was interesting, and saw the Blue Jays hold a 24-20 lead and serving for the set. But the Lasers scored the last six points of the set, including three kills by McKenna McCool. She finished the match with eight, trailing only Juliana Medini who had 12 on 15 attempts. Sydney Katz recorded 25 set assists, while Camila Lopez had 12 digs.

Up next - The Lasers will host Wheaton at 7pm on Thursday.
