Standish, ME - The Lasell Women's Volleyball team won their sixth straight match on Thursday, beating Saint Joseph's (Maine) in five sets by a score of 21-25, 25-16, 25-16, 15-25, 16-14. It moves the Lasers to 8-1 on the season, and 1-0 in GNAC play, while the Monks are 5-7 and 2-1.

After dropping the first set the Lasers came back strong in the second and third sets, winning each by a score of 25-16. While they would have liked to put the match away in the fourth, the Monks came out strong, and never let the Lasers get in it, sending the match to the fifth and final set. The Lasers would win the first three points, but then drop the next four, only to win the following four to go up 7-4. The Lasers would then have match point at 14-9, but would drop the next five points, allowing the Monks to tie things up. But the Lasers came out of a timeout composed, and won the final two points, winning the match on a Maddie Caro ace.

The Lasers had a three headed attack on offense, with McKenna McCool (13), Morgan Bogli (13), and Tori Scambray (11) each recording double digit kills. Sydney Katz was in the middle of most points, recording 34 set assists. Defensively it was all about Maddie Caro, as she had 23 digs. Emily VanHouten also recorded double-digit digs with 11.

Up next - The Lasers will return home to host a GNAC tri-match against Elms and Colby-Sawyer on Saturday. Those matches will be played at 11am and 3pm.
