WVB: Volleyball Wraps Up Smith Tournament with 3-1 Record

Northampton, MA - The Lasell Lasers took a trip to Smith College this weekend, playing four matches, and going 3-1. They are now 5-1 on the season.

Match One vs Smith College

The lone loss of the weekend, the Lasers fell to Smith College in straight sets by a score of 25-20, 25-19, 25-8. Offensively, the Lasers were led by McKenna McCool, who had four kills. Sydney Katz led the team with eight set assists while Maddie Caro had five digs.

Match Two vs Western New England

The Lasers bounced back in their second match, defeating Western New England in four sets by a score of 25-20, 19-25, 25-16, 26-24. It was a two headed attack for the Lasers, with Tori Scambray and McKenna McCool each recording double digit attacks with 15 and 11 each. Sydney Katz and Saige Cambonga-Meyers were setting the table for most of those kills with 20 and 18 set assists each. Katz recorded a double-double by adding 13 digs, second most on the team behind Maddie Caro's 20.

Match Three vs Elmira

Match three, the first on Saturday saw the Lasers defeat Elmira 3-0, winning 25-13, 25-11, 25-17. It was a balanced attack by the Lasers with six players recording at least two kills, and no one recording more than four. Sydney Katz led the way with 10 set assists. Camila Lopez and Maddie Lopez each recorded double digits digs with 12 and 10 each.

Match Four vs Redlands

The Lasers wrapped up the tournament with a five set come from behind win over Redlands, winning 25-19, 15-25, 15-25, 25-23, 16-14. It featured a historic performance by McKenna McCool, who had 21 kills, tied for the 14th most kills in school history. She did this on 53 attempts. Isabelle Borowinski had 10 kills, part of a double-double with 13 digs. Sydney Katz also recorded a double-double with 28 setassists and 14 digs.
