WVB: Lasers sweep Blazers in GNAC match to remain undefeated in conference play

Chicopee, Mass. - The Lasell Women's Volleyball team swept the Blazers of Elms College to remain undefeated in GNAC play. The Lasers improve to 9-10 overall and 3-0 in GNAC play while Elms falls to 5-9 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

The Lasers controlled the first set as they quickly jumped out to a huge lead 15-5. Then, the Blazers responded with 9 straight points to cut the deficit to 1 to make it 15-14. Lasell would eventually pull away from the first set winning 25-19.

The second set was pretty even as both teams traded blows until the Lasers went from a 16-15 lead to a 24-15 lead after scoring 8 straight points to give enough leverage to win the second set 25-17.

The third set was pretty even as well just like the second set. The Lasers gradually pulled away late in the set to complete the sweep 25-20.

For Lasell, McKenna McCool (Loomis, Calif.) had a game-high 14 kills with Camila Lopez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) right behind her with 9 kills as well as a game-leading 17 digs on the defensive end. Saige Cambonga-Meyers (Springdale, Ark.) led the game with 19 assists and Maddie Caro (Chula Vista, Calif.) chipped in with 15 digs. For Elms, Jaylianne Ramos Figueroa (Boca Raton, FL.) led the Blazers with 7 kills. Jaylen Holman (Las Cruces, NM) had 11 assists as Alyssa Moore (Ludlow, Mass.) and Alysha Izquierdo (Holyoke, Mass.) had 14 and 11 digs apiece to pace the Blazers defensively.

The Lasers are back in action when they travel to New London, New Hampshire when they face Colby-Sawyer as Elms will host the University of Saint Joseph's (Conn.) on Wednsday night.
