WVB: Lasers fall to Lions in non-conference contest

Newton, Mass. - The Lasell Women's Volleyball team hosted the Lions of Eastern Nazarene Thursday night at the Athletic Center. Lasell fell to Eastern Nazarene in three sets as they drop to 8-10 overall and the Lions improve to 11-1.

Eastern Nazarene took the first set 25-20. Camila Lopez (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) had 3 kills for the Lasers to lead them in the first set and Morgan Bogli (Vernon, Conn.) registered 2 as well in the set.

Lasell had a strong start in the second set leading as much as 10-4. However, Eastern Nazarene would respond and take control of the second set to win it 25-20. McKenna McCool (Loomis, Calif.) and Saige Cambonga-Meyers (Springdale, Ark.) each registered 3 kills in the set, respectively.

Eastern Nazarene would end the match with the same set result 25-20 to defeat the Lasers. McCool once again had three kills to pace the Lasers on the attack.

For the Lions, Eliana Baran (Beaumont, Calif.) registered a game-high 15 kills while Telma Zelaya (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) recorded 29 assists and on the defensive side, Zelaya and Andrea Aceituno (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) both had 9 digs apiece to pace the defense for the Lions. For the Lasers, McCool led the attack with 7 kills as Cambonga-Meyers recorded 12 assists. On the defensive end, Maddie Caro (Chula Vista, Calif.) registered 13 digs as Juliana Medini (Roxbury, N.J.) and Madalyn Scully (Mauston, Wis.) both had 5 blocks apiece to pace the defensive side for the Lasers.

Lasell is back in action Saturday afternoon when they travel to Chicopee to face GNAC foe Elms College and Eastern Nazarene will travel to Boston, Mass. for a doubleheader Saturday afternoon when they take on Wentworth first followed by Worcester State.
