WVB: Lasell splits on the final day of the Clarkson Tournament

Lasell vs Nazareth

The Lasell University Lasers women's volleyball team fell to the Nazareth Golden Flyers 3-1 in the 

third match of the Clarkson Tournament Saturday. The Lasers improve to 3-5.

Lasell kept it close in the first set and they were able to stay within 3 points. But then the Golden Flyers went on a 4-point run and never looked back. The first set ended 25-18 

In the second set. The Lasers started out hot, but the Golden Flyers came back and finished the set 25-17.

The third set was a nail-biter as both teams fought hard for the lead. Lasell was able to maintain the lead and win the set 25-22. 

Following their third set performance, the Lasers came out hot and were up five nothing. The Golden Flyers were persistent though and were able to claw their way back in and made it 20-20. The set finished 25-23 in favor of the Golden Flyers.

Freshman Sydney Katz led the way for the Lasers as she had 32 assists and two aces. Also contributing for the Lasers was Sophomore Camila Lopez who had 11 kills and 15 digs.

 

Lasell vs Saint Lawrence

Lasell defeated Saint Lawrence University Saints Saturday afternoon, winning the match 3-1.

In the first set, the Saints got hot early and kept it that way as they won the set 25-22. 

The second set was a totally different story for the Lasers as at one point they were up seven points. They won the set 25-17. 

The third set was similar to the second for the lasers as they cruised their way to a 14-point lead. This resulted in them winning the set 25-12.

The fourth and final set was highly competitive as both teams were tied at 10. The Lasers were able to pull away though and they won the set 25-22

Sophomore McKenna McCool led the way for the Lasers as she contributed 22 points.

The Lasers return to the Athletic Center Tuesday night at 7 p.m. to play Keene State.
