WVB: Lasell drops tri-match at Keene State; Lasers headed to GNAC playoffs on Tuesday

KEENE, N.H. – The Lasell University women's volleyball team wrapped up the regular season Saturday afternoon, dropping a pair of 3-0 contests in a tri-match at Keene State College with the University of Southern Maine.

The Lasers are now 9-22 overall, having previously finished with a 5-7 mark in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC).

Lasell wound up in a three-way tie for seventh place in the GNAC with Saint Joseph's College of Maine and Regis College, and following the tiebreaker procedures, earned the eighth seed in next week's GNAC Tournament. The Lasers will visit top-seeded Johnson & Wales University on Tuesday, November 5, for a quarterfinal matchup at 7:30 p.m.

Southern Maine 3, Lasell 0

The Huskies took down the Lasers by set scores of 25-21, 25-19 and 15-13. USM, which also defeated the Lasers 3-1 on October 22 at Lasell, is now 15-16.

Sophomore Kiana Perez Diaz (Juncos, P.R.) posted her 13th double-double of the season with team-highs of 11 kills and 15 digs. Senior Amanda DiLeonardo (West Haven, Conn.) chipped in with seven kills and 10 digs, and junior Katie Schneider (Covina, Calif.) handled setting duties and finished with 20 assists. Freshman Karissa Gaughan (Granby, Conn.) and senior Kelly Cappitella (East Haddam, Conn.) also reached double digits in digs with 11 and 10, respectively.

Keene State 3, Lasell 0

The host Owls defeated the Lasers by set scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-21. Keene State concludes its regular season at 22-8.

Sophomore Meg Roberts (Newington, Conn.) led the Lasers, matching her career-high with 14 kills with just one error on 22 attempts for a blistering .581 attack percentage. Perez Diaz added nine kills and Schneider was good for 27 assists. Four players reached double digits in digs, Gaughan with 13, DiLeonardo and Cappitella with 12 and Perez Diaz with 11.
