WVB: Lasell drops first match at Skidmore Classic; Perez Diaz posts double-double

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Lasell University women's volleyball team took on host Skidmore College Friday evening in the opening match of the Skidmore Classic at the Williamson Sports Center, and the Lasers were defeated by a score of 3-0.

The set scores were 25-11, 25-18 and 25-20. The Lasers are now 4-12 on the season while Skidmore is 8-7 overall.

Sophomore Kiana Perez Diaz (Juncos, P.R.) posted a double-double to lead the Lasers, recording 11 kills and 10 digs. Senior Amanda DiLeonardo (West Haven, Conn.) contributed seven kills and 11 digs and sophomore Meg Roberts (Newington, Conn.) chipped in with four winners. Sophomore setter Jess Langan (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) ran the offense and finished with 21 assists.

The Lasers will play two more matches in the tournament on Saturday, facing Sage College at noon and a rematch against host Skidmore at 1:30 p.m.
