Two Lasell Women’s Volleyball players receive All-Conference honors

NEWTON, Mass. – Two members of the Lasell College women's volleyball team were recognized Tuesday with selection to the 2018 All-Great Northeast Athletic Conference Team, as voted by the GNAC's head coaches.

Senior Olivia Addington (Orange, Calif./ El Modena) and freshman Kiana Perez (Juncos, Puerto Rico/ Notre Dame) were named to the All-GNAC Second Team, and Perez received further recognition by being voted GNAC Rookie of the Year. Addington becomes a three-time All-GNAC selection. Sophomore Allie Jo Amos (Prescott, Ariz.) was also selected as Lasell's representative on the GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team.

A 5-9 outside hitter and team captain, Addington earns Second Team honor for the second time (2016) along with her First Team recognition a year ago. She ranked third in the GNAC this season in total kills (319) and fifth in kills per set (3.04), and she topped the GNAC among non-libero players in digs (351) and digs per set (3.34). She posted 14 double-doubles this season, reaching double figures in both kills and digs in a match 14 times.

A four-year starter, Addington completed an outstanding career, having set numerous school records. She set marks last year for kills in a match (27) as well as records for kills in a three-set match (19) and the standard in a four-set match (22) established in 2016. Addington became the second player in program history to reach at least 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career, finishing with 1,325 kills (second-most in program history) and 1,177 digs (fourth-most). She was also Lasell's GNAC All-Sportsmanship Team selection twice in her career.

A 5-9 outside hitter, Perez enjoyed an outstanding first year in a Laser uniform, earning GNAC Rookie of the Week four times. She finished second in the conference in kills (327) and kills per set (3.30) and seventh among non-liberos in digs (299) and digs per set (3.02). She posted 10 double-doubles this season, reaching double figures in both kills and digs in a match 10 times.

Perez also set a new program record with 31 kills in a four-set victory over Newbury College. She equaled the school mark for kills in a three-set match with 19 winners in a victory over Suffolk University.

Lasell finished the season with a 13-19 overall record under first-year head coach Dana Jones, finishing in fourth place in the GNAC with an 8-4 ledger. The Lasers were upset by Suffolk in a GNAC Tournament quarterfinal match.
