Lasell Women’s Volleyball drops pair at Western Connecticut Tournament

DANBURY, Conn. – The Lasell College women's volleyball season got underway Friday at the Western Connecticut State University Invitational, and the Lasers fell in a pair of three-set matches at Feldman Arena against the host Colonials and Emerson College.

Western Conn. took the first match from the Lasers by scores of 25-13, 25-15 and 27-25, and Emerson won the late match, 25-16, 25-15 and 25-23. The matches mark the debut of Lasell head coach Dana Jones.

Senior Olivia Addington (Orange, Calif.) and freshman Kiana Perez (Juncos, P.R.) led the Lasers in the match against WestConn. Addington posted five kills and 10 digs while Perez recorded four kills and 11 digs. Freshman setter Jess Langan (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) was solid in her collegiate debut with 14 assists and a team-high three service aces.

Addington posted a double-double for the Lasers in the contest against Emerson, as she pounded 12 kills with a .297 attack percentage (12-1-37) along with 11 digs. Perez also had another strong match, finishing kill shy of a double double with nine kills and a team-high 13 digs. Junior Kelly Cappitella (East Haddam, Conn.) contributed six kills, sophomore Allie Jo Amos (Prescott, Ariz.) added 12 digs, and sophomore setter Katie Schneider (Covino, Calif.) posted a team-high 13 assists.

The Lasers will play two more matches in the tournament on Saturday, facing FDU-Florham at 10:00 a.m. and Salve Regina University at noon.
