Women's Volleyball Picks Up First Wins of the Season at Newbury Invitational

BROOKLINE, MA- The Lasell College women's volleyball team came away from the first day of competition at the Newbury Invitational defeating Johnson State College and the host school Newbury with scores of 3-0 and 3-1 respectively. 

 

Senior Danielle Drapeau (Biddeford, ME) led the Lasers in their contest against Johnson State with a match high of 10 kills and a .769 clip. Senior Megan Crozier (Ballston Spa, NY) produced 27 assists in the game. Lasell swept the Badgers in three games by scores of 25-12, 25-5, 25-12. 

 

In Lasell's second game of the day the Lasers defeated Newbury, 3-1. Lasell took the first set 25-16 then the Nighthawks snapped back and took set two from the Lasers with a score of 25-21. Lasell won the next two sets, 25-18 and 25-20. 

 

Senior Elieen Barrett (Ludlow, MA) had a match high of 11 kills and sophomore Sara Biondo (Coventry, RI) recorded nine kills to help the Lasers to their victory. Crozier dished out 33 assists in the match. Anna Feeter (Peterborough, NH) contributed 14 digs to aid Lasell in the victory.

 

The Lasers are back on the court Saturday, September 10th for the second day of competition at the Newbury Invitational. Lasell will face Bard College in their first game which is slated to start at 9:00 am. The Lasers will play again at 1:00 pm against Sage College.
