WT&F: Lasers wrap up indoor season at USATF New England Indoor Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Lasell University women's track and field team wrapped up the indoor season Sunday at the USA Track & Field Indoor Championships at Harvard University's Gordon Indoor Track. The Lasers sent a contingent of seven women's athletes to the event. 

Lasell sent five sprinters to the starting line in the women's 60-meter dash. Sophomore Emily Hong (Southborough, Mass.), senior Allie Clancy (Beverly, Mass) and sophomore Itzel Torres (Milford, Mass.) led the way for the Lasers, finishing 15th, 16th and 18th, respectively, in times of 8.91, 8.93 and 8.94. They were followed by sophomore Alahna Mild (Bar Harbor, Maine), 20th in 9.08 seconds and freshman Kiara Fournier (Auburn, Maine), 22nd in 9.19.

Sophomore Elise Stanbury (Warren Hills, N.J.) and junior Hannah Besaw (Shrewsbury, Mass.) represented the Laser women in the shot put, with Stanbury placing fifth with a mark of 9.72 meters (31'10.75") and Besaw ninth with a mark of 8.32 meters (27'3.5")

Fournier also competed in the long jump, placing 26th with a leap of 4.03 meters (13'2.75").

The Lasers will open the outdoor season on Saturday, March 21, at the Wesleyan Spring Classic in Middletown, Conn.
