WT&F: Lasers post eight season-best performances at GNAC Indoor Championships

BOSTON, Mass. – The Lasell University women's indoor track and field team posted eight season-best performances out of 11 tries Sunday, February 16, at the inaugural Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Indoor Championships at Boston University's Track and Tennis Center.

The Lasers had outstanding performances in the sprint events with eight season bests, all four entries in the 60-meter dash and all three in the 200-meter dash. Sophomore Emily Hong (Southborough, Mass.) placed seventh out of 16 in the 60 in a time of 8.73 seconds; freshman Kiara Fournier (Auburn, Maine) placed 10th in 9.00; senior Allie Clancy (Beverly, Mass) following right behind placed 11th in 9.01; and sophomore Alahna Mild (Bar Harbor, Maine) placed 12th in 9.12.

Hong led the ground in the 200-meter dash, placing 11th out of 22 runners with a time of 29.19 seconds. Classmate Itzel Torres (Milford, Mass.) placed 14th in 30.42 seconds and Clancy placed 17th in 30.92.

Fournier recorded a season best in the long jump, placing seventh out of 12 entries with a leap of 4.45 meters (14'7.25"). Torres was the only Lasell representative in the 60-meter high hurdles, placing eighth in 11.83 seconds.

Lasell had two entries in the shot put. Sophomore Elise Stanbury (Warren Hills, N.J.) placed ninth out of 21 entries with a mark of 9.27 meters (30'5") and junior Hannah Besaw (Shrewsbury, Mass.) placed 19th (7.14/23'5.25").

The Lasers will compete again next Sunday, February 23, at the USATF New England Indoor Championships at Harvard University.
