Track and Field Closes Regular Season with Record Breaking Performances

WESTON, Mass. (4/30/17)- The men's and women's track and field teams took on their final contest of the 2017 season at the Regis Pride Invitational hosted by Regis College.

The meet started in the field where freshman Anthony Liriano (Elmira, N.Y.) set a new school record in the hammer throw, breaking his previous performance from last week.  Liriano threw a massive 9-meter personal best with a toss of 30.93 meters.  On the track, freshman Mark Greenwald (Monmouth, Maine) closed the season with a personal best in the 1500 meters.  In the 200-meter dash sophomore Ben Lane (Rutland, Vt.) continued his tear on the track with another school record and personal best, and ran a time of 22.81 which was good for second place overall in the meet.  Sophomore Ryan Dalaba (North Granville, N.Y.) ran a school record performance in the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:48.94.

On the women's side, senior Ayumi Ranucci (Auburn, Maine) closed her career with a bang, and ran two personal best performances in the 100 meters and 200 meters where she placed 3rd overall in both events.  Her 100-meter performance was good for a school record with a time of 13.05, and her 200-meter performance was a half second personal best with a time of 27.07.  Ranucci left her mark on the track and field program, and we wish her luck in her future endeavors.

Freshman Megan Stella (Warren, Mass.) closed the season with a personal best in the 100 meters.  In the 400-meters freshman Stephanie Amato (Westford, Mass.) was able to shave just enough time off for a personal best running a 61.81 placing 2nd overall.  Freshman Karli Manship (Pittsfield, Mass.) and sophomore Stephanie Seedorf (Massapequa, N.Y.) were able to run outdoor personal bests in the 1500 meters to close the season out on a high note.

Next weekend, Lane will compete in the Division III New England Championships hosted by Williams College in the 200 meters.  Lane will take on all qualifiers from the New England.
