Track and Field Closes 2016 at Jay Carisella Invite

NEWTON, Mass. (12/10/16) -- The Lasell College men's and women's track and field teams participated in their second meet of the 2016-17 indoor season Saturday, competing at the annual Jay Carisella Invitational hosted by Northeastern University at the Reggie Lewis Center.

Sophomore Benjamin Lane (Rutland, Vt.) continued a strong start to the season on the men's side, tying a career-best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.49. Lane also finished 29th out of 40 runners in the 200-meter, finishing in 24.43. Sophomore Kyle Vonick (Wethersfield, Conn.) narrowly missed a career-best in the 500-meter, finishing in 1:09.54 for a 12th-place finish.

Freshman Matt Holden (Methuen, Mass.) posted his second top performance of the season by a Laser in the 800-meter, posting a time of 2:19.39, while sophomore Ryan Dalaba(North Granville, N.Y.) did the same in the 5,000-meter with a 16:47.91 finish. Mark Greenwald (Monmouth, Maine) made his collegiate debut in the one-mile, finishing 17th with a 5:06.08 time.

After making his Lasell debut at last week's UMass Boston Indoor Open, freshman Anthony Liriano (Elmira, N.Y.) raised his personal best in the shot put, throwing 10.49m. Junior Joshua Nixon-Daily (Bloomfield, Conn.) hit 5.7m in his second long jump of the season.

On the women's side, senior Ayumni Ranucci (Auburn, Maine) made her first 16-17 debut, running the 60m dash in 8.70, .9 seconds away from her personal best. Ranucci later finished the 200m race at 29.08, while freshman Megan Stella (Warren, Mass.) sprinted her first 400m race in 1:07.86.

For the field events, Jordan Immerman (Tarzana, Calif.) led the Lasers in the long jump pit with an improved (.09) mark of 4.09m.

The Lasers will enjoy the Holiday break, and will return to the Reggie on Saturday, January 14 of the New Year at the Tigers All Comers Invite.
