Women’s Track and Field Makes NCAA New England Meet Count

NEWTON, Mass. (5/3/14) – The Lasell College women's track and field team capped off their season with an outstanding showing at the NCAA New England Regional Championships at Springfield College on Saturday May 3rd. Senior Chelsea Zeig, freshmen Tatyana George and the 4x100 relay team all competed for Lasell after qualifying earlier in the season.

Chelsea Zeig wrapped up her Lasell track and field career nearly setting a new personal-best in the shot put. She placed 11th and her distance of 11.22 meters was .02 meters off her personal-best and school record setting distance set two weeks ago of 11.24 meters.

Tatyana George set a new school record in the 400M, shaving a full second off her own record set a week ago. She won her heat and finished 17th overall with a time of 1:00.34 and was also a member of the 4x100 relay team that set a new school record. George combined with Melissa Cooley, Ayumi Ranucci, and Talia Gabriel to post a time of 51.96 seconds in the race, cutting their time from a week earlier by just over a tenth of a second, breaking 52 seconds for the first time together.
