Vito La Francesca enters his 16th season at the helm of the Lasell University women's soccer program in 2023, having won the eight GNAC championships with the Lasers.
La Francesca took the reigns of the program in fall 2007 and he was named GNAC Coach of the Year. In 2012, he lead the Lasers to a 3-1 victory over Amherst College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament, becoming the first team in Lasell University history to win an NCAA Tournament game. He has accumulated an overall record of 189-78-15, including eight straight NCAA tournament appearances from 2010-2017. His team has qualified for the GNAC tournament every season he has been head coach and also appeared in the ECAC Northeast Regional Tournament in 2008. In his tenure, he has seen more than two dozen of his players be named to GNAC All-Conference teams.
La Francesca additionally coached the first two athletes to receive All-America status in Lasell history. Mack Kingman, a four-year standout, was named to the NSCAA All-America second team following the 2016 season and was also announced as the GNAC Woman of the Year, another first honor for Lasell University. Carly Zdanek was also named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division III Women's All-America third team following the 2017 campaign.
La Francesca was the assistant coach at Babson College in 2006 before his tenure at Lasell. Prior to moving to the collegiate level at Babson, he had successful stints as the head coach at Beaver Country Day (2004-2006) and Watertown High School (1999-2002). He has been coaching women's soccer in various capacities since 1997 and holds several advanced coaching degrees.
La Francesca earned his associate's degree in engineering technology from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1997 and his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Wentworth in 1999. He is currently working at Harvard Medical School in the Engineering and Construction division and resides in Reading, Massachusetts, with his wife and four children.
