Lasers beat Amcats 

Newton, MA

The Lasell University woman's soccer team defeated the Anna Maria Amcats 5-0 Wednesday afternoon at Taylor Field. The win moves the Lasers to 9-5-1 overall and 9-1-1 in GNAC play.

The Lasers got on the board in the 29th minute when Serena Speight (Biddeford, ME) drove down the right flank and worked her way into the box. Once in the box, she shot the ball into the top left-hand corner of the box to make it 1-0. This would be the only goal of the half.  

The Lasers added to their lead in the 46th minute when Bobbi O'Guin (Newton, MA) worked her way into the box and shot the ball into the far corner of the box, past the goalie, and into the net.

In the 80th minute, O'Guin dribbled inside the box and passed it to Sarah Lynch (Warwick, RI). Lynch then spun around and shot it into the net to make it 3-0. Two minutes later, O'Guin would add her second goal of the game to put Lasell up 4-0.

First-year player Kaleigh Kosta (Somerville, MA) scored her first NCAA goal in the 88thminute when Alexys Suojanen (Windsor Locks, CT) set her up for the goal. After the pass from Suojanen, all Kosta had to do was just shoot the ball into the net and the game finished 5-0 in favor of Lasell.

Laser goalie Kyli Swan (Queen Creek, AZ)  finished the game with two saves and Anna Maria's keeper Alice Yokabaskas recorded 13 saves. 

The Lasers are back in action on Saturday as they host the Blue Jays of Saint Joseph Connecticut at 12 p.m. The Amcats are back in action on Saturday as they travel to Providence, RI to take on Johnson and Wales at 6:30 p.m.
