WSOC: Lasers fall to Wildcats

Providence, RI

The Lasell University women's soccer team fell to the Johnson & Wales Wildcats 2-1 Wednesday night at Scotts Miracle-Gro Athletics Complex. The Lasers move to 7-5-1 and the Wildcats move to 12-1-1. 

The Wildcats got on the board in the 19th minute when Jordan Restivo (Utica, NY) dribbled down the right flank. Restivo then produced a cross to Angelina Oliveira (Naugatuck, CT). Oliveira then shot the ball into the net to give Johnson & Wales the early lead. 

Lasell answered back in the 37th minute when the Wildcat's goalie could not corral a Lasell free kick. The ball found its way to Emily DeHart (Farmington, CT). Dehart then shot the ball into the net to level the game at one. 

 With four minutes left in the first half, Trina Capezza (Coventry, RI) passed the ball to Kylie Schmidt (Kintersville, PA). Schmidt then shot the ball past the defense to give JWU the 2-1 lead going into halftime. 

Neither team would not score in the second half and JWU went on to defeat Lasell 2-1 

Laser goalie Kyli Swan (Queen Creek, AZ) finished the game with ten saves for Lasell.

The Lasers are back in action on Saturday for Senior Day when they host Simmons University at 3 p.m. Johnson & Wales is back in action Saturday as well as they travel to Boston, MA to take on Emmanuel College at 11 a.m.
