WSOC: Lasers fall short to UMass Dartmouth

Newton, Mass – The Lasell University women's soccer team took on the University of Massachusetts Corsair Wednesday afternoon, falling 3-2 in a non-conference battle at Taylor Field.   The Lasers fall to 0-3 and the Corsairs improve to 2-0.

After a back and forth 30 minutes, the Lasers broke through in the 36th minute when Sophomore Priscilla Martinelli (Plymouth, MA), received a pass from Senior Bobbi O'Guin (Newton, MA) and fired it into the back of the net.

The Corsair responded a minute into the second half when Freshman Kait Bernier (New Bedford, MA) took a couple of dribbles and found the back of the net. Freshman Ashlyn Aguiar (Somerset, MA) set her up great for the shot.

The Lasers responded two minutes later when Sophomore Michelina D'Agostino (Longmeadow, MA) threaded a perfect pass to Priscilla Martinelli who then fired it into the back of the net.  

Ten minutes later Corsair freshman Veronica Bock (Walpole, MA) passed the ball to sophomore Madison Durkin (Cumberland, RI) who was able to blast the ball into the net.

The Corsairs were able to take the lead in the 68th minute when Freshman Jordan Golove (Colts Neck, NJ) set up freshman Kaitlyn Duarte (New Bedford, MA) for the go-ahead goal.

Lasell Junior goalkeeper Riley Silvia (Raymond, ME) made her first start of the season and made six saves.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday, September 10th. The Lasers will travel to Dean College at 4 p.m. and UMass Dartmouth will travel to Curry College at 11:00 a.m.
