WINTHROP, Mass. - The Lasell University women's soccer team, which won eight straight GNAC conference championships from 2010-17 and qualified for the NCAA Division III Tournament in each of those years, was selected to finish second in the 2022 GNAC Preseason poll Tuesday.

The Lasers earned 176 points, clearing third-place Saint Joseph's College of Maine (2 first-place votes) by four points and trailing first-place and defending conference champion Johnson & Wales (12 first-place votes) by 18 points.

Last year, the Lasers advanced to the conference title game and finished as the runner-up, going 11-2 in the GNAC and 13-5 overall. Head Coach Vito La Francesca enters his 16th year at the helm of the program in 2022, excluding the COVID-19-canceled fall 2020 season. He has accumulated an overall record of 189-78-15 and a conference mark of 132-25-10.

Lasell's regular-season opener will take place on Sept. 1 against Endicott at 4:30 p.m. on Taylor Field in Newton, Massachusetts. The unit will open its conference schedule on Sept. 10 with a 3 p.m. game against Dean in Franklin, Massachusetts.
