Women's Soccer Defeats Emerson 3-1 in Road Test

Boston, Mass. - The Lasell College women's soccer team won their ninth match of the season, defeating Emerson 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Lasers improved to 9-1 on the season, and 7-0 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference after winning their eighth consecutive match. Emerson fall to 6-1-2 overall and 3-1-2 in conference play with the loss.

Bridget Lynch (Dover, N.H.) scored a pair of goals, and Molly Masiero (Richmond, Mass.) netted her second goal of the season to help Lasell remain unbeaten in conference action.Leah Pappalardo (Whitman, Mass.) made five saves to record the victory in goal for Lasell. Alyssa Giannone scored the lone goal for Emerson, while Allie Altman made six saves in a losing effort.

Lynch scored her first goal of the day in the fourth minute of action, giving the Lasers an early lead. Masiero added to the Lasell edge when she scored in the 17th minute to put her side up 2-0. Giannone drew the Emerson side back within a goal when she scored on a penalty in the 28th minute, and the matcgh went to the halftime break with Lasell leading 2-1.

Lynch would put the match away for Lasell when she tallied her second goal of the day in the 82nd minute, slotting home a nice ball by Molly Fitzgerald (Haverhill, Mass.).

Lasell will travel to St. Joseph's (Conn.) on October 3rd looking to extend their winning streak to nine matches.
