NASHUA, NH- Sophomore forward Jamie Harris (Lynnfield, MA) recorded a trio of goals in succession between the 13th and the 47th minute which helped lead Lasell College women's soccer to a 4-2 victory over Rivier College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play, Wednesday night on Raider Field.
Harris was not the first to score, however, as Lasell had to play catch-up after an early mark by Rivier's Mary Donovan (Milford, NH) just six minutes into the game.
Harris' first tally leveled off the playing field shortly thereafter, breaking away from the pack and beating goalkeeper Christine Surber (Langdon, NH) at 13:10. Just a minute and a half later, Harris tallied the game-winner, once again on a breakaway, after a Raider turnover in the midfield.
The natural hat trick would complete in the early going of the second half when Harris collected a rebound off the post and tucked it in the net for a 3-1 Lasell lead.
Jessica Taylor (Standish, ME) would register the final Laser goal at 57:42 on a five-yard shot from the left field. All four of Lasell's goals were unassisted in the contest.
Rivier would cut the deficit to just two after a penalty kick by Mariah Payne (Concord, NH) was placed right inside the left post in the 82nd minute.
Lasell's starting goalkeeper Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, MA) picked up three saves and the win in the conference contest through 76 minutes of play. Amy DelloRusso (Plymouth, MA) relieved Stickley for the remainder of the game, making one stop in 14 minutes.
The Lasers will look to extend their two game winning streak with another home contest on Saturday, September 17th at 2:30 p.m. against Norwich University.
