Newton, Mass.- Lasell's women's soccer team was the victor today in a GNAC matchup with Suffolk University. The Lasers have not dropped a game in nearly a month of play, and now boast a 7-3-2 overall record, 6-2-2 in the conference.
Freshman marvel Jordynn Frollo (Uxbridge, MA) continues her extraordinary play for the Laser, picking up three points, on a goal and an assist, in today's game. Frollo sent the ball from midfield to send Allyson Bushey (Westminster, MA) on a breakaway to score the Lasers opening goal, at 1:28 into the game. Frollo and Bushey then had a repeat of the same play later in the half which just missed the Rams net.
Senior captain, and Lasell's goalkeeper, Jamie Remmers (West Islip, NY) was tested repeatedly by Suffolk but proved strong for the Lasers. Remmers came up with 7 saves, including a beautiful deflection save in the first half when the Rams Leslie Hayden (Ross, CA) drilled a shot from close range which Remmers swatted away.
Frollo closed out the first half of play for the Lasers when she received a ball from Meredith Hessler (Middletown, RI) and fired in a shot from 25 yards out.
Ashley Lambert (Salem, MA) upped the Lasers lead to three in the 50th minute of play when Alyssa Ferreri (Southbury, CT) sent a crossed back to Lambert who shot from the right field.
The Lasers dominated the field the entire day, doubling the Rams total shot opportunities (24-12). Suffolks goalkeeper Emily Joyce (Easton, MA) collected 10 saves in the loss.
The Lasers will look to continue their winning streak when they travel to Emerson College on Tuesday, October 21st, for a 6:00 p.m., GNAC game against the Lions.
