The Lasers tallied two late goals in the final three minutes of regulation to force double overtime with the Blue Jays of Saint Joseph's College, CT.
The Blue Jays struck first in the match when junior defender Susie McKenna (Southbury, CT) sent a corner kick into a scramble of several players before Eva Peart (Bloomfield, CT) headed the ball into Lasell's goal.
With a 1-0 advantage, the Blue Jays continued to attack the Lasers net, outshooting Lasell 28-15 throughout the game. The Lasers remained diligent, and fought back to tie the game with just 2:27 to play when junior Olivia Tsakiris (Grosvenordale, CT) unleashed a 25 yard shot that sailed past St. Joseph's keeper, Cait Witham (Prospect, CT).
Just 22 seconds later, Paige Briglia (Watertown, CT) took back the lead for the Blue Jays, blasting the ball back into the Lasers net.
With just two minutes left the play, Lasell's rookie defender Liz McGeoy (Doylestown, PA) lobbed the ball from far outside the penalty box which navigated its way into the Blue Jay's goal, at 1:23.
Though the teams battled hard in double overtime, neither team came up with a game winning goal in the extra minutes. Rookie Laser goalie Elizabeth Stickley (Mashpee, MA) came up with some fantastic saves in net, stopping 15 overall shots.
The Lasers pick up play again on Wednesday when they take on Rivier College in GNAC play. The game will be on Taylor Field at 4:00 p.m.
