
NEWTON, MA – The Lasell women's lacrosse team suffered a tough loss to Curry College on Tuesday, falling 16-13 in a hard-fought contest. Despite a valiant second-half effort, the Lasers were unable to overcome Curry's early lead.
Curry dominated the first half, scoring six unanswered goals before Lasell found the back of the net. Emily Watson got the Lasers on the board in the second quarter with an unassisted goal at 12:24. Lasell managed two more goals in the second quarter, with Mara Boldy adding another, but Curry maintained their advantage with a 9-3 lead at halftime.
The Lasers continued to battle in the second half, with Watson scoring two more goals and Kaitlin Bedell adding another in the third quarter. Lasell showed resiliency, scoring multiple times in the fourth quarter as they narrowed the gap. However, Curry's offense, led by Nicole Michael and Grayson Goolgasian, sealed the victory despite Lasell's late push.
Emily Watson finished with four goals and two assists, leading the Lasers' attack. Kaitlin Bedell contributed four goals, including a free position shot in the fourth quarter. Jade Sullivan scored one goal on a free position shot late in the game, but it wasn't enough to overcome Curry's defense. On defense, Shannon Borbee scooped up three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Goalie Joy Sayah took the loss for Lasell, allowing 13 goals and making six saves in 48:20 minutes of action. Tia Spenlinhauer played 11:40 minutes in relief, allowing three goals and making no saves. Lasell outshot Curry 40-26 and picked up 18 ground balls compared to Curry's eight, but Curry capitalized on the turnovers and draw controls to hold on to their lead.
