WLAX: Lasers Fall to Raiders in GNAC Play

Nashua, NH –  The Lasell University women's lacrosse team was defeated by Rivier University, 17-8, in a conference matchup. The loss drops Lasell's record to 4-2 overall, while Rivier improves to 4-3.

The game saw strong individual performances from Lasell, including three goals from senior Ruby Cahill (Billerica, MA) and two goals each from junior Kaitlin Bedell (Wilmington, MA) and sophomore Mara Boldy (Wakefield, MA). Senior Emily Watson (Medford, MA) added a goal and an assist in the effort.

However, the Lasers struggled to keep up with the Rivier offense. The Rivier offense dominated the draw controls, holding a 18-9 advantage, and outshot Lasell 34-21.

Lasell came out strong in the first quarter with an early goal from Bedell on a free-position shot, but Rivier answered quickly, going on a five-goal run to take a commanding lead. Lasell continued to battle throughout the game, with Cahill's third goal coming in the third quarter to make it 6-10, but Rivier's scoring depth and efficient offense proved too much.

In net, junior Joy Sayah (Wakefield, MA) made seven saves for the Lasers but faced 34 shots, while Rivier's Rachel Hinkley recorded six saves in the win.

Up Next: The Lasers will be back on their home turf this coming Monday, in a non-conference matchup against Curry College.
