
Newton, MA – The Lasell women's lacrosse team delivered an impressive performance on Tuesday, cruising to a 15-4 victory over Dean College in a key conference matchup. The win improves Lasell's record to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while Dean falls to 3-4 on the season and 0-2 in league competition.
Lasell wasted no time asserting control, scoring seven goals in the first quarter. Emily Watson kicked things off with an unassisted goal at 13:18, and Kaleigh Kosta followed up with a man-up goal just a minute later. Annarita Sanfilippo's back-to-back free position goals at 8:35 and 5:52 pushed the Lasers to a commanding 4-0 lead. Alice Rourke, who had a standout performance, scored two quick unassisted goals to extend the lead to 6-0 before finishing with a free position shot at 3:41 to cap off the first quarter with a 7-0 advantage.
Dean showed signs of life in the second quarter with two quick goals, one by Haley Gaunt off a free position shot (8:20) and another from Nina Medeiros (7:20). However, Lasell continued its offensive barrage, with goals from Ruby Cahill (6:52), Alice Rourke (5:40), and another from Rourke assisted by Cahill (2:44) to push the score to 10-2 by halftime.
The Lasers did not take their foot off the gas in the third quarter. Kaitlin Bedell added an unassisted goal at 13:30, and Kaleigh Kosta scored twice, including a man-up goal (12:42). Lasell's offense kept Dean on the defensive, as Ruby Cahill added one more goal at 5:30, making it 14-2 heading into the final quarter.
Dean found the net twice in the fourth quarter, as Nina Medeiros scored an unassisted goal at 12:26 and Natalie Peterson added one more at 8:24. However, Lasell's Emily Watson sealed the game with a free position goal at 10:05, giving Lasell the commanding 15-4 victory.
Alice Rourke led the way for Lasell with 5 goals and 1 assist, making a huge impact on both ends of the field. Ruby Cahill contributed with 2 goals and 1 assist, while Emily Watson added 2 goals and 2 assists. Joy Sayah and Tia Spenlinhauer combined for 7 saves, allowing only 4 goals.
