WLAX: Emmanuel Escapes with 13-11 Victory Over Lasell in Thrilling Contest

NEWTON, MA — The Lasell University women's lacrosse team fought hard but came up just short, falling to Emmanuel College 13-11 in a tightly contested match on Saturday afternoon. The win pushed Emmanuel's record to 2-1, including a 1-0 mark in conference play, while Lasell dropped to 2-1 and 0-1 in conference play.

Emmanuel took control early, jumping to a 5-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. Lasell came alive in the second quarter, as  Kaitlin Bedell's two goals, one off a free-position shot, helped bring the game to a 5-5 tie midway through the period. However, Emmanuel regained the lead with D. Srimouksavanh's goal late in the half, putting the two teams at a 6-6 stalemate going into the break.

The third quarter saw Lasell continue to pressure, with Bedell scoring another free-position goal and an unassisted strike, putting the Lasers ahead 8-7. But Emmanuel quickly responded with goals from Emilia Ferraro and Ella Marschitz, regaining the lead at 9-8 as the game entered the final quarter.

The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair, with Madeline Wright and Emilia Ferraro adding goals for Emmanuel, while Lasell's Annarita Sanfilippo and Emily Watson found the back of the net to keep things close. With just over two minutes left, Ferraro converted a free-position shot, and Anna Nichols added a late insurance goal, securing the 13-11 win for the Saints.

Up Next: The Lasers will be back on their home turf this Sunday for another highly anticipated GNAC matchup, against Dean College.
