Newton, MA - The Lasell Women's Lacrosse team fell to the Saint Joseph's (ME) Monks on Saturday by a final score of 14-7. The Lasers fall to 2-2 on the season and 0-1 in GNAC play, while the Monks are now 3-1 and 1-0.
Neither team scored in the first half of the first quarter, but after the Monks scored one, they scored a few more, going up 3-0 after one. A teresa Kessner goal to open the second quarter gave the Lasers a spark, but that was stymied by two consecutive Monks goals. But the Lasers did not go away, as goals from Kaitlin Bedell and Emily Watson brought them right back into things at 5-3. But the Monks would score three goals in the final three minutes of the half to take an 8-3 lead at the break. The third quarter saw the Monks score four goals. But the Lasers did not just give up, they battled in the fourth, and won the quarter 4-2, with two goals each from Kessner and Bedell.
The Lasers were led on defense by Arianni Diaz, as she had three caused turnovers. Five different Lasers had three ground balls in Natalia Cullen, Sabrina LeBlanc, Shannon Borbee, Kaitlin Bedell, and Teresa Kessner. Kalie Purcell led them with four draw controls
Up Next - The Lasers will look to bounce back when they host Thomas (ME) next Saturday at 12pm.
