Newton, MA - The Lasell Women's Lacrosse team fell to the Fitchburg State Falcons on Tuesday by a final score of 13-9. The Lasers fall to 1-1 while the Falcons start their season 1-0.
The Lasers, who were playing shorthanded and only had one sub, opened scoring midway through the first quarter on an Emily Watson goal. The Falcons would score the next three goals to take a 3-1 lead. But th Lasers opened the second quarter with two straight goals from Teresa Kessner and Kaitlin Bedell to tie things up. The Falcons would score three times in the last eight minutes of the half, with another Bedell goal sandwiched in there. The Falcons led 6-4 at the break.
The Lasers controlled the fourth, as Bedell scored the first and last goals of the quarter. Kessner scored back to back goals sandwiched by a pair of Fitchburg State goals. This sent the game to the fourth tied at eight. But the Falcons would outscore the Lasers 5-1 in the fourth, with Kessner scoring the lone goal for Lasell.
Joy Sayah stopped eight shots for the Lasers, and made her 200th career save.
