Women's Lacrosse: Lasers' 2022 season recap

NEWTON, Mass. - The Lasell University women's lacrosse team won three of its final four GNAC regular-season games to earn a berth into the GNAC Tournament as the seventh seed.

The Lasers finished the year with a 6-7 mark in the conference under first-year Head Coach Britney Wuorio '14, as Kaitlin Bedell (first team), Sydney Brady (second team) and Teresa Kessner (third team) all earned All-Conference honors. Bedell was also named to the GNAC's All-Sportsmanship team. Senior Devin Zambruno earned GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week on April 11.

Brady recorded her 100th collegiate point in a 16-6, senior-day win over Albertus Magnus on April 28. During the triumph over the Falcons, Brady set career highs in points (10) and assists (3), while tying a personal-best seven goals. She also recorded a career-best 12 draw controls, tied for the fifth most in a single game in program history. She finished her career with 99 goals and 110 points. During her senior year, she recorded five or more points eight times and four or more goals on 10 occasions.

Kessner compiled three or more goals seven times, four or more assists on three occasions and five or more points seven times during the 2022 season. The Brentwood, New York, native scored a career-high six goals and tied an individual record with eight points during a win over Rivier on April 21. In a 17-16 overtime victory at Saint Joseph (Conn.) on March 17, she registered a career-high five assists.

Zambruno set a program record with 26 saves at Dean on April 2. She also recorded 24 stops during a season-opening game against visiting Colby-Sawyer on March 2.

Senior midfielder Serena Speight compiled career-highs of five goals and six points in an 18-11 setback at second-seeded Simmons  during the quarterfinal round of the GNAC Tournament on April 30. Emily Chapdelaine buried the game-winning, man-up goal with 1:49 remaining in the fourth quarter during a 17-16 triumph at Saint Joseph (Conn.) on March 17.

During a crucial 11-9 GNAC win at Elms on April 23, Kessner finished with three goals and four assists, Brady found the back of the net four times and Sophia Gadsden struck twice. Gadsden had a breakout senior season, scoring three or more goals seven times and recording four or more points on seven occasions.

Chapdelaine tallied three or more assists three times and had a monster game during a 14-10 GNAC win over Regis on April 5, registering career-highs of four goals, four assists and eight points. Zambruno was a consistent force in net for the Lasers, tallying double-digit save totals in 14-of-17 games.

The Lasers were led from an offensive perspective by Brady (60 goals, 9 assists), Kessner (39 goals, 22 assists), Gadsden (39 goals, 9 assists) and Chapdelaine (19 goals, 20 assists). Brady ranked sixth in the conference in goals and Kessner finished in a tie for seventh in assists. Brady finished with 72 draw controls and 54 ground balls, as the totals rank in a tie for eighth and ninth, respectively, on the team's record list. Zambruno's 231 saves were the second most in the conference and rank first in the program's record book.
