Women's Lacrosse: Brady scores five but Lasers fall to Emmanuel

Boston, Mass. – Senior Sydney Brady (Westfield, Mass.) scored five goals, but it was not enough as the Lasell University Lasers women's lacrosse team fell to Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) member Emmanuel College, 18-8, Tuesday night at Clemente Field.

The Saints got the first goal of the game as senior Jessica Borduas (Woodbury, Conn.) scored off an assist from junior Megan Steele (Auburn, Maine). Borduas struck again one minute later off a feed from senior Chandra Franca (Woburn, Mass.). Freshman Anna Drillen (Readfield, Mass.) made it three straight and was quickly followed up by a goal from sophomore Alyssa Hogan (Westborough, Mass.) as the Saints scored four in the first four minutes. Brady scored her first of the game and got the Lasers on the board at the eight-minute mark as she scored off a free position attempt. Drillen scored her second of the game on a solo effort and freshman Deja Srimouksavanh (Portsmouth, N.H.) followed her up with a goal off a feed from junior Ali Bergin (Newbury, Mass.). Hogan added her second of the first quarter off a Steele assist to give the Saints a six-goal lead. Brady added her second of the first quarter off a second free position attempt to cut the Saints lead to five after a quarter of play.

Borduas started the scoring in the second quarter and netted her third of the game and was quickly followed up by the third goal for Drillen thirty seconds later. Srimoukavanh added her second before Brady netted her hat trick for the Lasers. Drillen scored her second for the quarter followed up by Steele on a free position attempt. Freshman Abby Brown (Saco, Maine) scored her first of the game and Srimoukavanh scored off a free position attempt as the Saints scored four straight to end the quarter and take a 14-3 lead at half.

Brady opened the scoring in the third by scoring her fourth of the game and third off a free position attempt. Two straight goals off free position attempts by Srimoukavanh including one a man-up gave the Saints a 12 goal lead. Brady then scored her fifth of the contest on a solo effort before freshman Rachel Canedy (Woodstock, Conn.) scored for the Saints right before the end of the third.

Sophomore Teresa Kessner (Brentwood, N.Y.) opened the scoring in the fourth and became the first Laser other the Brady to find the back of the net with her solo effort just over four minutes into the final quarter. Hogan scored for the Saints to get the lead back to 12 before senior Serena Speight (Biddeford, Maine) scored on a free position attempt. Kessner added a second goal in the quarter with a solo effort in the fourth and close out the scoring in the game as the Lasers fell to the Saints 18-8.
