Women's Lacrosse: Sophie Fistori tallies first collegiate assist in 11-2 loss at Johnson & Wales

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior midfielder Sophie Fistori tallied her first collegiate assist and junior defender Caroline O'Leary scored her first goal of the season for the Lasell University women's lacrosse team during an 11-2 setback in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at Johnson & Wales Tuesday evening.

Senior midfielder Sydney Brady also found the back of the net for the Lasers (4-7, 3-5 GNAC). Senior goalie Devin Zambruno, who was named GNAC Goalkeeper of the Week Monday, made a game-leading 14 saves.

Leading the way for the Wildcats (9-4, 8-1 GNAC) were Maris DiBeneditto (6 goals, 1 assist) and Katie Sloan (4 goals, 1 assist). Goalie Emma Glyman earned the win in net, making eight saves and recording a .800 save percentage.

Johnson & Wales took a 4-0 lead with 13:19 remaining in the second quarter, as Sloan scored three of the team's first four goals. O'Leary found the back of the net, assisted by Fistori, four minutes into the second, and then a man-up, free-position goal by Brady with 2:01 left in the half cut the deficit to four going into intermission.

DiBeneditto scored four second-half goals to seal the nine-point victory. She finished with 23 shots and 15 shots on goal for the Wildcats, while collecting four ground balls. Margaret Johnson posted a game-best seven draw controls and Ally Wilson led all players with three caused turnovers.

Natalia Cullen and O'Leary each finished with two caused turnovers for the Lasers. Sophia Gadsden, O'Leary, Brady and Fistori combined for 10 shots.

The Lasers will compete against GNAC-rival Norwich Saturday at noon in Northfield, Vermont.
