Women's Lacrosse: Zambruno sets program record with 26 saves in 25-20 loss at Dean

FRANKLIN, Mass. - Sydney Brady, Sophia Gadsden and Teresa Kessner recorded a combined 17 goals and four asssists and senior goalie Devin Zambruno made a program-record 26 saves for the Lasell University women's lacrosse team during a high-scoring affair in a 25-20 setback at Great Northeast Athletic Conference-rival Dean Saturday afternoon.

Brady tied a career-high with seven goals and set a personal record with eight points for the Lasers (3-6, 2-4 GNAC). Gadsden (5 goals, 2 assists) equaled a career-best seven points and Kessner set an individual record with five goals. Junior midfielder Emily Chapdelaine finished with two goals and one assist for Lasell.

Leading the way for the Bulldogs (3-6, 3-4 GNAC) were Maire Brown (11 goals, 2 assists), Jazzy Sztyler-Magee (5 goals, 2 assists), Allie Bezio (4 goals, 1 assist), Nina Medeiros (3 goals) and Natalie Peterson (2 goals). Goalie Jada Fields earned the win, making eight saves for Dean.

Sztyler-Magee scored four first-quarter goals for the hosts and Brady found the back of the net twice for the visitors in the opening 15 minutes, as Dean led, 10-5, at the end of one. The Bulldogs won the second quarter, 6-2, and took a 16-7 advantage into halftime.

Lasell came out firing on all cylinders in the second half, as the unit scored the first five goals of the third quarter, featuring a hat trick by Kessner and a pair of tallies by Brady. A goal by Brady with 6:25 on the clock cut the deficit to 16-12. The Bulldogs scored five of the final seven goals in the third, building a 21-14 lead going into the final 15 minutes.

Gadsden was phenomenal for the Lasers in the fourth, finding the back of the net three times, all on free-position shots. Lasell won the fourth, 6-4, but Dean was able to close out a five-goal victory.

Chapdelaine led all players with 10 draw controls, while Brady contributed with eight. Gadsden led the Lasers with six ground balls, while showcasing great shot selection, scoring five times on six shots. Brady and Kessner applied relentless pressure on the Bulldogs' defense, combining for 19 shots on goal.

Dean held a 65-30 advantage in shots and a 40-26 lead in ground balls. The draw controls were competitive, as the Bulldogs finished with 25 and the Lasers earned 23. Lasell was 9 of 13 on free-position shots.

The Lasers will compete against GNAC-foe Regis Tuesday at 4 p.m. on Grellier Field.
