BIDDEFORD, Maine - Teresa Kessner, Sydney Brady and Sophia Gadsden scored a combined 10 goals for the Lasell University women's lacrosse team during a 22-10 setback at University of New England Tuesday evening.
Kessner's four goals were a career-high and tied for the most in the game, while Brady and Gadsden tallied hat tricks for the Lasers (2-3). The three student-athletes have combined for 44 goals and 14 assists this season. Kessner's assist total is tied for the fourth most in the GNAC. Senior goalie Devin Zambruno made a game-leading 12 saves for the visitors.
The Nor'easters (1-6) were led by Ann Chapman (4 goals, 2 assists), Morgan White (4 goals, 2 assists), Nicole Corriveau (4 goals, 1 assist), Paige DeVries (3 goals) and Kimmy Staniar (2 goals). Goalie Madison Bruzzese made six saves in the victory for UNE.
The Nor'easters led, 7-0, at the end of one, behind two-goal efforts by Corriveau and DeVries. Kessner and Brady scored three goals each during the second quarter, trimming the deficit to 12-6 going into halftime.
Gadsden scored all three of her goals in the second half, but 10 second-half goals by the Nor'easters secured a victory for the hosts.
Kessner finished with a game-high three caused turnovers. Freshman Shannon Borbee led all players with four ground balls. UNE held a 39-21 advantage in shots and a 25-23 lead in ground balls.
The Lasers will compete against GNAC-rival Simmons Saturday at 1 p.m. on Grellier Field.
