WLX: Britney Wuorio named Interim Women's Lacrosse Coach

Newton, Mass. – The Lasell University athletic department is announcing former standout Lasers women's lacrosse player, Britney Wuorio, as the Interim Head Women's Lacrosse Coach, effective immediately.

Wuorio was a member of the Lasell women's lacrosse team from 2010 to 2014. She is the career leader in points, assists, assists per game, and shots attempted at Lasell. She also ranks second in career goals and points per game. She led the Lasers to the NCAA Tournament in 2013 with an 84 goal and 46 assist season.

"I am so excited to come back and be the head coach at my alma mater" said Wuorio. "Coaching at Lasell has always been my dream. This was an opportunity I have been waiting for."

"I am thrilled Lasell is still doing as well as they were when I played." She added. "If the girls continue to put in effort, dedication and hard wor I am expecting us to do very well this season."

Wuorio takes over a team that was successful in a shorten 2021 season, going 6-2 and 5-1 in the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC). Their record was good enough to give them the second seed in the GNAC tournament. In the GNAC tournament the Lasers beat the seventh seed Norwich University in the quarterfinals before falling to the third seed Johnson & Wales in the semifinals.
