Three Lasell student-athletes earn GNAC weekly honors

NEWTON, Mass. – Three Lasell College lacrosse players were recognized Monday by the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) for their performances in the Laser victories last week.

Senior Jordan McComb (Cumberland, R.I./Mt. Saint Charles Academy) was named GNAC Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, and sophomore Andrew Fidalgo (Wilbraham, Mass./Minnechaug) and freshman James Anderson (Medway, Mass./Medway) were selected GNAC Men's Lacrosse Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively. McComb and Fidalgo were each recognized by the GNAC for the second time this spring, while Anderson was named Rookie of the Week for the fourth time.

A senior midfielder, McComb recorded 19 points with 15 goals and four assists in a pair of GNAC victories as the Lasers extended their winning streak to six games. She tallied career-highs of nine goals and 12 points in a win over Emmanuel College and added six goals and one assist in a victory at Albertus Magnus College. She also tallied 15 draw controls, nine ground balls and seven caused turnovers in the two victories.

McComb leads the team and ranks second in the GNAC with 67 goals and 84 points, which ranks her 20th nationally in Division III in goals and 36th in points. She is also second in the GNAC with 57 ground balls and 31 caused turnovers and sixth with 63 draw controls. McComb was previously the GNAC Player of the Week on March 18.

A sophomore attackman, Fidalgo totaled 13 points in a pair of GNAC wins as the Lasers extended their win streak to a program-record 12 games. He tallied four goals and two assists in a key win at Saint Joseph's College of Maine, and added three goals and four assists in a home win over Anna Maria College. He also picked up five ground balls at St. Joe's and two against Anna Maria.

Fidalgo leads the team with 21 assists and ranks second with 44 points, which rank him tied for fifth in the GNAC in assists and tied for 11th in points. He was previously the GNAC Player of the Week on March 4.

A freshman attackman, Anderson registered seven points in the two GNAC wins for Lasell. He tallied four goals and one assist in the victory at Saint Joseph's, and added two assists in a home win over Anna Maria. He also picked up two ground balls at St. Joe's and one against Anna Maria.

Anderson is tied for third on the team with 23 goals this season, and fourth with 34 points. The rookie is also tied for 17th in the GNAC in both goals and points. Anderson was previously the GNAC Rookie of the Week on March 18, March 25 and April 15.

Additionally, Lasell has earned the GNAC Men's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week honor six straight weeks and seven of the eight weeks of the season, with four different Lasers earning the honor.
